FAQ
Below is a full FAQ page covering CryptoPakistan, crypto basics, legality in Pakistan, and site usage.
General Questions About CryptoPakistan
1. What is CryptoPakistan?
CryptoPakistan is an independent Pakistani platform covering cryptocurrency news, regulation, blockchain education and fintech developments, with a focus on what they actually mean for people in Pakistan.
2. Is CryptoPakistan a financial advisory service?
No. CryptoPakistan does not provide financial advice, trading signals or investment recommendations. All content is informational only.
3. Who writes the articles?
Articles are written by named authors, not published anonymously. Anything that carries a factual claim is written and checked by a person, and we cite primary sources — regulator notifications, official announcements, published data — so you can verify what we say rather than take our word for it. Our full standards, including how we use and do not use AI tools, are set out in our Editorial Guidelines.
4. How often is the website updated?
We publish several times a week, and more often when something significant happens in Pakistani crypto policy or markets. We would rather publish three pieces worth reading than fill a daily quota.
Crypto in Pakistan
5. Is cryptocurrency legal in Pakistan?
This answer changed in 2026, and a lot of information online is now out of date.
Pakistan now has a statutory framework: the Virtual Assets Act 2026 established the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA), which licenses virtual asset service providers. For most of the previous decade there was no dedicated regulator at all, which is where the widely repeated claim that crypto is “unregulated in Pakistan” comes from. That claim is no longer accurate.
Owning and using virtual assets is not criminalised. What is changing is who is authorised to offer services, and licensing is still being rolled out — so whether a particular platform is authorised is a question with a moving answer. We maintain the PVARA Licence & NOC Tracker for exactly that reason, and update it as the position changes.
Tax treatment is a separate and much less settled question. Our guide to crypto tax in Pakistan is deliberately explicit about what is confirmed and what is still only under discussion.
6. Can I trade crypto in Pakistan?
Many Pakistanis trade through peer-to-peer platforms, global exchanges and local over-the-counter communities. Two things are worth understanding before you do:
- Licensing now matters. With PVARA operating a licensing regime, whether a service is authorised to operate in Pakistan is a real question rather than a theoretical one.
- Banking access is separate from legality. Getting rupees in and out has historically been the practical constraint, independent of whether holding crypto is lawful.
Do your own research, and follow the rules that apply to you.
7. Which crypto exchanges do Pakistanis use?
Binance, OKX, Bybit and KuCoin are all widely used, largely through peer-to-peer markets. We do not endorse any exchange, and popularity is not the same as being licensed.
Because licensing status is the part that actually changes, we track it separately rather than embedding it in an article that will go stale: see the PVARA Licence & NOC Tracker.
