App Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Crypto Pakistan mobile app for Android and iOS. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

The website at cryptopakistan.com is covered separately, because it collects different things. See the website privacy policy.

The short version

The app has no user accounts. You are not asked to register, and we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or location. Articles you save are stored only on your own device.

The app does count which articles get read, so we know what to cover. That counting is not tied to you, and you can switch it off in Settings.

What the app stores on your device

  • Saved articles and reading cache. Articles you bookmark, and recently viewed articles, are cached in a local database on your phone so they can be read without a connection. This never leaves your device, and deleting the app deletes it.
  • Your notification preferences. Which topics you follow, and whether notifications are switched on.
  • Your usage-data choice. Whether you have turned off the counting described below.

What the app sends to us

  • A push notification token, but only if you turn notifications on. This is an anonymous identifier issued by Apple or Google that lets us send a notification to your device. It is not linked to your identity, and we store it alongside nothing except the topics you chose and whether the device is iOS or Android. Turning notifications off, or uninstalling the app, retires it.
  • Ordinary web requests to our API to fetch articles and prices. These carry the technical information any web request carries, such as an IP address, which our infrastructure provider processes to deliver the response and to protect against abuse. We do not build profiles from it.
  • Usage data, through Google Firebase Analytics. Which screens you open, which articles you read, how long a session lasts, and coarse device facts such as model, operating system version and country. It is tied to a random identifier Google issues to your app installation, not to you. It tells us that an article about tax rules was read; it does not tell us that you read it. You can turn this off in Settings, and it stops.
  • Crash reports, through Google Firebase Crashlytics, when the app crashes. These carry the technical state at the moment of the crash — where in the code it failed, device model, operating system version, memory and storage headroom — plus a random identifier for the installation. They exist so that a crash you hit can be found and fixed. They carry no advertising identifier.

The app contains no advertising SDKs and no social media trackers. Nothing it collects is sold, and nothing is shared with anyone for advertising or for building a profile of you.

Firebase is a Google product, so the usage data and crash reports above are processed by Google on our behalf, under Google's terms as a data processor. Google's own handling is described in the Firebase privacy documentation.

Services we rely on

  • Cloudflare — hosts the API the app talks to.
  • Expo — delivers push notifications to your device, and delivers app updates.
  • Google Firebase — carries push notifications to Android devices, counts app usage (switchable off), collects crash reports, and serves the settings that let us change app behaviour without shipping an update.
  • CoinGecko — supplies cryptocurrency prices. The app requests prices through our own server, so CoinGecko does not receive anything about you.
  • Ghost — publishes the articles the app displays.

Children

The app is intended for a general adult audience interested in financial and regulatory news. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

  • Usage data. Open Settings in the app and turn off Share usage data. Collection stops from that moment.
  • Notifications. Turn them off in the app's Settings screen or in your device settings, and we stop sending anything to your device.
  • Saved articles. Clear the app's storage, or uninstall it.

Crash reports cannot be switched off separately, because an app that cannot report its own crashes cannot be repaired. They contain no advertising identifier and are not used for anything but fixing faults.

Because we hold no account and no personal data, there is no profile for you to request or delete — but if you believe we hold something about you, write to us and we will look.

About prices and content

Prices shown in the app are indicative, sourced from CoinGecko, and are not a quote from any exchange. Nothing in the app is investment, tax, or religious advice. Some links to exchanges are affiliate links, which are disclosed where they appear and never influence our coverage.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top and note the change in the app's release notes.
