App Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Crypto Pakistan mobile app for Android and iOS. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

The website at cryptopakistan.com is covered separately, because it collects different things. See the website privacy policy.

The short version

You can read everything in the app without an account. We do not ask for your name, phone number or location. If you choose to sign in with your Crypto Pakistan membership, we hold your email address; and if you are approved for reading rewards, Paysats, a separate company that runs them, holds your email address and a record of the articles you were rewarded for. Articles you save are stored only on your own device.

The app does count which articles get read, so we know what to cover. That counting is not tied to you, and you can switch it off in Settings.

What the app stores on your device

  • Saved articles and reading cache. Articles you bookmark, and recently viewed articles, are cached in a local database on your phone so they can be read without a connection. This never leaves your device, and deleting the app deletes it.
  • Your notification preferences. Which topics you follow, and whether notifications are switched on.
  • Your usage-data choice. Whether you have turned off the counting described below.
  • Your sign-in. If you sign in, the app keeps the sign-in session that cryptopakistan.com issues, as a cookie on your device, so you stay signed in. Signing out deletes it.

What the app sends to us

  • A push notification token, but only if you turn notifications on. This is an anonymous identifier issued by Apple or Google that lets us send a notification to your device. It is not linked to your identity, and we store it alongside nothing except the topics you chose and whether the device is iOS or Android. Turning notifications off, or uninstalling the app, retires it.
  • Ordinary web requests to our API to fetch articles and prices. These carry the technical information any web request carries, such as an IP address, which our infrastructure provider processes to deliver the response and to protect against abuse. We do not build profiles from it.
  • Usage data, through Google Firebase Analytics. Which screens you open, which articles you read, how long a session lasts, and coarse device facts such as model, operating system version and country. It is tied to a random identifier Google issues to your app installation, not to you. It tells us that an article about tax rules was read; it does not tell us that you read it. You can turn this off in Settings, and it stops.
  • Crash reports, through Google Firebase Crashlytics, when the app crashes. These carry the technical state at the moment of the crash — where in the code it failed, device model, operating system version, memory and storage headroom — plus a random identifier for the installation. They exist so that a crash you hit can be found and fixed. They carry no advertising identifier.

The app contains no advertising SDKs and no social media trackers. Nothing it collects is sold, and nothing is shared with anyone for advertising or for building a profile of you.

Firebase is a Google product, so the usage data and crash reports above are processed by Google on our behalf, under Google's terms as a data processor. Google's own handling is described in the Firebase privacy documentation.

Signing in, and reading rewards

Signing in is optional. You sign in with the email address of your Crypto Pakistan membership; we email you a one-time code to confirm it is yours. Your membership is the same one you use on cryptopakistan.com.

Reading rewards are open only to members we have approved, and are run by Paysats, published by Yaraf Digital LLC (United Arab Emirates), a separate company from Crypto Pakistan. When you are signed in, the app asks Paysats whether rewards are open for your account; that request carries your email address in the sign-in token. Paysats keeps nothing from it, although paysats.com’s web server log records the request (IP address, device and time) under its normal log rotation.

If you are approved and use rewards, we share with Paysats:

  • your email address, through a short-lived sign-in token that proves you are a Crypto Pakistan member;
  • the date you joined Crypto Pakistan, and your email address’s domain, which Paysats checks to refuse throwaway addresses;
  • which articles you open, so Paysats can time the read, and which ones you read to the end, so it can add sats to your balance. This is separate from the anonymous usage counting above: it stays on when that is switched off.

Paysats holds your rewards balance; a record of each rewarded article (which article, when, how long the read took, and the sats it earned); the Paysats name you link ([email protected]); and your withdrawals (amount, date, Paysats name and the wallet address paid). Withdrawals are paid by Paysats and checked by a person before they are paid; the app never holds or sends funds itself.

To stop one person collecting rewards through many accounts or through automated scripts, Paysats also stores the IP address and the type of device of each rewards request against your rewards account. They are compared between accounts, never used to work out where you are, not used for advertising, and deleted after 90 days.

Services we rely on

  • Cloudflare — hosts the API the app talks to.
  • Expo — delivers push notifications to your device, and delivers app updates.
  • Google Firebase — carries push notifications to Android devices, counts app usage (switchable off), collects crash reports, and serves the settings that let us change app behaviour without shipping an update.
  • CoinGecko — supplies cryptocurrency prices. The app requests prices through our own server, so CoinGecko does not receive anything about you.
  • Ghost — publishes the articles the app displays, and manages Crypto Pakistan memberships and sign-in.
  • Paysats (Yaraf Digital LLC) — runs reading rewards and pays withdrawals; see above.

Children

The app is intended for a general adult audience interested in financial and regulatory news. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

  • Usage data. Open Settings in the app and turn off Share usage data. Collection stops from that moment.
  • Notifications. Turn them off in the app's Settings screen or in your device settings, and we stop sending anything to your device.
  • Crash reports. Open Settings in the app and turn off Send crash reports. Crash reports stop from that moment. They contain no advertising identifier and are used for nothing but fixing faults.
  • Saved articles. Clear the app's storage, or uninstall it.
  • Your account. Sign out under Your account in Settings at any time.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account in the app: Settings, Your account, Delete my account. That deletes your Crypto Pakistan membership and asks Paysats to delete your rewards balance, the record of articles you were rewarded for, your linked Paysats name and the stored IP address and device records. Rewards for addresses that reach the same inbox (for example [email protected] and [email protected]) are one account and are deleted together. Withdrawals that were already paid are kept by Paysats without your email address (amount, Paysats name, wallet address and date), because they record money that was actually sent; if a withdrawal is still being checked or sent, deletion waits until it has finished. Prices shown in the app are indicative, sourced from CoinGecko, and are not a quote from any exchange. Nothing in the app is investment, tax, or religious advice. Some links to exchanges are affiliate links, which are disclosed where they appear and never influence our coverage.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top and note the change in the app's release notes.
